Woitschikowski, who lives in Germany, practices scientific microscopic photography with an artistic lens. With an industrial microspcope he reveals the wondrous world of ingredients that is invisible to the unaided eye. The shapes are formed on glass lab plates by heating chemicals, such as Vitamin C, and or mixing them with water or alcohol. As the substances cool or dry, crystals appear. When illuminated by polarized light, some seem to leap into a ballet of form and color. Woitschikowski encourages viewers to embrace the abstract of his photography and see something entirely new, not unlike Dr Robb’s practice of looking at traditional skincare and inventing a multitude of beauty products that have never been seen before.
Opulus commissioned Woitschikowski to create new and unique photographic images of the key ingredients for the new Moisturizing Concentrates Collection. From the Opulus Beauty Lab on Bainbridge Island, Washington, USA we shipped ingredients to Germany where Woitschikowski began experimenting. He produced a series of stunning artistic images, the final 3 images we selected of Vitamin C, Vitamin B and Azelaic Acid can be seen on the new Concentrates Collection a microscopic view of the beauty within the key ingredients of each Concentrate.
